Threat Level 2: Threat to coastal marine areas due to strong currents and oscillations in sea level.
Threat Level 2 Tsunami Warning maintained for the islands of the Republic of Mauritius because any tsunami wave is expected after around 4-5 hours. Due to small tsunami waves expected no major evacuation is being envisaged. Public strongly advised not to venture over beaches as well as in the sea for at least the next 12 hours. Situation is being monitored from available tide gauges and constant communication maintained with the National Disaster Centre. Tsunami warning will be waived once tide gauges indicate subsiding or no tsunami waves.

We've communicated with Disaster Management Department (PMO-DMD) explaining about the potential for adverse impacts due to the underwater earthquake; threat map indicates threat for entire Tanzanian coastline.

A Tsunami Warning is issued for island in the Republic of Mauritius. Details of arrival time and expected wave heights are included in the bulletin for every islands. Public advised not to venture over beaches and low lying coastal regions. Details of wave heights have been communicated to the National Disaster Centre who is going to decide on any evacuation of specific communities.

Warning has been issued to the public regarding threat from Tsunami along the coastal areas of Tanzania. Given that the expected amplitude is not higher than 1.0m, inundation of inland areas is unlikely and therefore only areas at or very near the shore are likely to be affected.
